If you’re looking for a way to level up your Christmas decor this year, you’re going to love this creative garland tension rod hack. It caught our eye because it’s so simple, effective and it won’t damage your doorway.

How to Do It

  1. Grab a shower curtain rod or curtain tension rod that fits your doorway. There are various sizes available so make sure you measure up first.
  2. Set up the shower rod at a level you can comfortably work on it.
  3. Wrap your greenery around the rod to create the base.
  4. Add some twinkle lights and accent ornaments to complete your Christmas garland.
  5. Move your hanging garland into place at the top of your door opening and tighten.

That’s it! You can get creative with your Christmas garlands, choosing your decorations to suit your style and tastes.

The Trend

Watch @thekwendyhome, who says:

Drape and wrap your shower rod with a garland. You might need two for a fuller look. Remember to fluff your garland.

Here’s a Christmas decorating hack for you! Damage free garland hanging with a shower curtain rod! I had to try it for myself after seeing @Letneeutro do it! I took the shower curtain from our guest bathroom and tested this out for myself. It has held up really well! I even put my heavy Norfolk pine garlands on and it didn’t budge. This is perfect for renters and those who don’t want to put nails in their walls. And an added bonus is that you don’t get a crick in your neck or get tired arms from decorating 😅 I linked everything on my LTK in my bio. Now go forth and deck those halls. #deckthehalls #christmasdecorating #christmas #christmas2023 #christmasdecor #decorhack #decorhacks #christmashack #christmashacks #garland #christmasgarland #christmasgarlandhack #homedecor #damagefreedecor #rentalfriendlydecor

Ideas and Inspiration

If you’re ready to take your holiday decor up a notch, here are a few ideas to make your garland stand out:

Evergreen Elegance: create an enchanting doorway garland using a variety of evergreen foliage. Explore combinations of pine, cedar, and eucalyptus to achieve a classic yet distinctive look. Embrace the timeless charm of nature, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere for the festive season.

Red and Gold Glamour: blend rustic charm with a touch of glamour. Combine rich reds and sparkling golds with natural elements like pinecones and birch branches with metallic accents. Perfect for homeowners seeking a sophisticated and cosy Christmas ambiance.

Woodland Wonderland: incorporate elements like miniature deer figurines, mushrooms, and twinkling fairy lights to transform your door opening into a woodland inspired display. Capture the essence of a winter wonderland in your own home with faux snow on spruce or fir.

Fantastic Florals: add floral accents with poinsettia style florals and other festive blooms. This keeps things natural-looking whilst offering opportunities to add contrast to your greenery.

Beautiful Baubles: embrace metallics, glitter and sparkle with a bauble-rich garland. Group your baubles together with pipe cleaners for extra impact.
